FXRT Fairing on a Dyna: Fitment & Brackets Guide
Can you put an FXRT fairing on a Dyna? Yes. An FXRT-style fairing is one of the most popular upgrades for a Harley-Davidson Dyna, and it's the centrepiece of the club style look. The catch: the Dyna was never sold with this fairing, so you need a fairing and brackets made for your Dyna's frame and year. This guide covers which Dynas fit, what's in a complete kit, and how to choose between fibreglass and carbon fibre.
Quick answer
- Fits: Harley-Davidson Dyna 1992–2005 and 2006–2017 – with a bracket kit for your specific year range.
- Why the year matters: the Dyna was redesigned for 2006, so the mounting points on early and late frames are different.
- What you need: fairing, Dyna-specific brackets and hardware, windshield and headlight cover. Lowers are optional.
- Material: hand-laid fibreglass (paint it to match your bike) or carbon fibre (lighter and ready to show off).
Which Dyna years fit an FXRT fairing?
Practically every Dyna can run an FXRT fairing, but you need the bracket kit for your year range:
- Dyna 1992–2005 – early Dyna frame. Choose a kit specifically for these years.
- Dyna 2006–2017 – the redesigned Dyna. Different mounting points, so a different bracket kit.
Brackets are where most FXRT-on-Dyna projects go wrong. Universal or "adapted" brackets can leave the fairing crooked, vibrating or touching cables at full lock. Model-specific brackets make the fairing sit straight and solid. If you're unsure which version you need, send us your model and year before ordering.
Dyna history at a glance
Why your Dyna's year matters
The first Dyna. The limited-edition FXDB Sturgis introduces the Dyna frame, with a rubber-mounted engine and the oil tank under the transmission.
A full model line. The Wide Glide and Low Rider move onto the Dyna frame.
Twin Cam 88. The new engine replaces the Evolution. The frame stays the same.
The big redesign. New frame geometry, 49 mm forks (up from 39 mm), a wider swingarm, a 17" rear wheel and a 6-speed gearbox. This is why early and late Dynas need different fairing brackets.
The last Dyna. For 2018, Harley folds the Dyna into the new Milwaukee-Eight Softail line. A 2018+ Low Rider, Street Bob or Fat Bob is a Softail – see our Softail M8 fairings.
A 2017 Dyna Low Rider S – the last Dyna year – with a Dominator FXRT fairing.
What's in a complete FXRT fairing kit?
A complete Dominator FXRT kit for the Dyna includes:
- The FXRT fairing (top)
- Lower fairings (on the full kits)
- All mounting brackets for your Dyna year range
- All mounting hardware
- Windshield
- Headlight cover
Want the look without lowers? Go for a top fairing only – it comes with the windshield, headlight cover and brackets.

Upgrades that finish the look
- FXRT air vent grills with LED turn signals – plug and play
- Speaker pod set – fits Cicada 5.25" speakers and a Bluetooth amp
- Baja Designs LP6 headlight bracket
- Replacement smoked windshield
- A Dyna crash bar to complete the club style stance
Note: aftermarket windshields and vent screens made for the original Harley FXRT fairing don't fit our Dominator fairings – use the matching Dominator parts.
FXRT or Low Rider ST style?
The newer Low Rider ST fairing is another popular choice for club style Dynas. If you prefer that modern shape, our Low Rider ST fairing kit is available with Dyna brackets. The FXRT stays the classic choice: bigger vents, more presence and the original '80s look.
FAQ
+ Does an FXRT fairing fit a Dyna Wide Glide or Switchback?
Fitment depends on the exact model, front end and year. Send us your model and year before ordering and we'll confirm.
+ Do I need different handlebars?
Often yes. Low, wide stock bars can hit the fairing at full lock. Taller risers with T-bars or MX bars are the most common setup.

Yes. Our speaker pod set fits Cicada 5.25" speakers and a Bluetooth amplifier inside the fairing.
+ Do you make FXRT fairings for other Harleys?
Yes – for the FXR, Softail M8 (2018+), Road King and Touring models. See the full fairing collection.
+ Do you ship to the US?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Every Dominator fairing is made in our own shop in the Netherlands.
