Nightster 975 & Nightster Special Fairing: How to Fit a Low Rider ST Fairing
Fitment guide · 6 min read · Nightster 975 & Nightster Special
Looking for a fairing for your Harley-Davidson Nightster 975 or Nightster Special? Since the Nightster (RH975) arrived in 2022, owners keep asking the same question: which fairing actually fits this bike and looks right? Most options are small universal cowls or oversized batwings. In our opinion, one fairing stands out: the Low Rider ST fairing (FXLRST). With the right brackets, it turns the Nightster into a lean, club style street bike.
Key takeaways
- The Low Rider ST fairing can be fitted to the Nightster 975 and Nightster Special.
- It won't bolt on directly. You need a Nightster-specific bracket.
- Our bracket is made in-house, powder-coated steel, adjustable, and needs no cutting or welding.
- Compared with cowls and batwings, the ST fairing gives real wind protection and the club style look.

Why the Low Rider ST fairing suits the Nightster
The Nightster is Harley's modern, compact middleweight: a liquid-cooled Revolution Max 975T engine in a slim, low chassis. It has a sporty character, and it suits the same club style treatment that made the Dyna and Low Rider ST so popular.
Proportional
Compact and sharp. It doesn't overpower the Nightster's small front end like a big batwing does.
A real Harley design
The shape comes from Harley's own FXRT-inspired Low Rider ST, so the bike looks factory-finished.
Real wind protection
It fixes the most common complaint of Nightster riders who ride beyond the city.
The club style look
Fairing, taller bars, maybe a crash bar: the West Coast recipe on a lighter bike.
The problem: there's no factory way to mount it
The Low Rider ST fairing was designed for Harley's Softail. The Nightster's front end and mounting points are completely different, so it won't bolt straight on. Universal brackets and adapted parts from other models often leave the fairing:
- sitting crooked or too far forward,
- vibrating at speed,
- touching the headlight, cables or bars at full lock,
- or held on with clamps that look like an afterthought.
A fairing is a big part sitting in the wind. It has to be mounted solidly, centred and at the correct angle.
The fairing is easy to find. Mounting it properly on a Nightster is the part that's been missing, so we built the bracket ourselves.

What you need
- A Low Rider ST fairing. A genuine Harley-Davidson FXLRST fairing or a quality aftermarket copy. Used take-off fairings from Low Rider ST owners are a popular budget route.
- The windshield for the ST fairing.
- Our Nightster ST fairing bracket with its mounting hardware.
- Headlight and wiring. Plan how your headlight and turn signals sit with the fairing. Our ST 5.75" LED headlight bracket and ST LED turn signals make that clean.

Installation: what to check
With the right bracket, this is a job a handy home mechanic can do. Take your time with the alignment.
Disconnect the battery before working on any lighting or wiring.
Mount the bracket loosely first. Don't tighten anything until the fairing is in position.
Hang the fairing and use the adjustment to set height, angle and distance. Check from the front and the side that it's centred and level.
Tighten everything once you're happy with the position.
Turn the bars lock to lock. The fairing, bars, cables and wiring must not touch or get pulled tight anywhere.
Check all lights and aim the headlight before your first ride.
Rather have it done? Any good Harley workshop can fit it with our bracket.
